This never occurred to me that I was disengaged from my walking partner; i.e.: walking to give him what I thought he needed in terms of exercise, instead of giving both of us an enjoyable experience. Thank you. I took the chance to practice this since we spoke and yes, the walk took forever, and yes, he buried his head in every tuft of grass (against my better judgement in regards to his allergies). It felt amazing to slow down and enjoy the time spent with my dog and connections we are hopefully building
