Sounds like he had a great and long life.

Our dog, Bj looked just like your guy and went almost the same way. Baked goods was his love. I miss him so much. I swear I sometimes hear him sigh as he did after laying down.

I lost my 18 yr old Michael Francis, Italian greyhound, 2 years ago. I am still seeing him in so many places we go and things we do. He was the best little buddy I had. He loved camping and riding in our RV. He loved watching horses at the various horse shows we attended. When I feel wind I think about Mikey, he is running like the wind.

Thank you for posting your story. I’m glad you found another “banana dog.”

I never, ever see a banana that I don’t just remember, but wish with all my heart, that we could share our treat just once more. Thanks for posting this again, even as your “Bananas Make Me Cry” again!

I am so sorry for your loss. I have the same kind of love for my Wyatt, a greyhound/sharpie mix. He is 13 and starting to show his age. There is nothing better than a love like this. My eyes were leaky reading your tribute to Dylan.

Thank you for your kind words! I would be delighted if you shared this piece with your class. I am a sporadic writer — I appreciate your encouragement. I find that the more passionate and genuine I am about my subject, the better my writing.
