The years we have with our dogs is very fleeting at best. Enjoy the memorable moments with them. I m a form believer we will see them again in heaven. That’s gives me some comfort.

I’m so sorry. We let our dog go at home as well. Much better for everyone. I hope you get another dog when you’re ready.

I’m so sorry. I’m sure there’s a lot of material out there on the subject.

Our furry son, we call him. My 10yo calls him his brother. And my 2yo daughter smothers him with kisses, and hugs all day long. It’s almost unsettling how much she loves him. He recently started sleeping by the front door, unable to climb his favorite couch. But he still loves food. It just takes him a bit longer to get to it now. I know his time is soon approaching, but beside the incredible ache that we will all feel when this happens, I’m having to research on ways to explain grief to a toddler for the first time. It’s all I think about. Our Bai.

If she was in pain then I think that was the best thing you could do for her. I’m sure she understands.

Just put my little “Duchess” down a few days age. 19 yrs old, could see she was in pain, same symptoms as with your dog but had a seizure in my arms 5 days before but she was a fighter & didn’t want to let her daddy go & the same with me.
Pain meds loosing effect so I had to do what was best.
Now trying to deal with the pain of the lose of my baby-its hard.
Trying to understand it was the best thing for her, but will she understand what I did & why?

12 years is a long time, and it’s never long enough.

Lately she is tired and sleeps a lot – she still loves our outings but doesn’t run anymore. I fear her time is coming – and we’ve had a good run – I don’t know how to recognize if she’s suffering – she just seems tired and not herself. I want her to be with me for a long time, but reality is her time will approach soon – and I don’t know what I’ll do without her.

If you haven’t taken her to your vet lately you should get his/her opinion.
